We first came here as Tour Leaders and between us we have led hundreds of tours in this region. Many of our tours ran side by side and because we got on so well our groups would often blend together. From that we have built a strong friendship and passion for Vietnam and formed Wide Eyed Tours in 2003, knowing that we somehow wanted to share our experiences.
When we hear people say they didn’t enjoy Vietnam, we get upset. We’re disappointed they didn’t get time to spend with us so we can share our Vietnam. Anyone who says they didn’t enjoy it here then they obviously came here with the wrong people or did it alone and not the way it should be done.
It is funny that we both have the same views about Vietnam, we are on the same page. Some of the day-to-day challenges at time can be testing in Asia, such as the traffic and not being able to get a meat pie, but so many elements are unreal, you wouldn’t give it up for the world. We wouldn’t wish to be anywhere else.
In 2003 we started the company and then we each started a family. Wide Eyed Tours has grown from 2 staff to 20 and we have moulded the company to fit into theirs and our lifestyles. We are still discovering and learning about Vietnam and that flows to our tours. We don’t want to be the biggest tour company, but we want to be proud of the trips we run and proud to send people home with the memories of a lifetime.
Experience our experience, however it isn’t always positive, sometimes things may happen that aren’t great, like being ripped off by the fruit seller, it happens, it has happened to us. It is never dull. There are things that still blow us away, every day. You would think that after so long we would have seen it all.
Most importantly for us is that our clients leave this country loving the region. Mission accomplished.
