🚨 April 2026 Update: New Ho Chi Minh City Arrival Requirement

From 15 April 2026, Vietnam has introduced a new pre-arrival declaration for travellers arriving into Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat Airport).

This is part of a pilot program designed to improve immigration processing. However, as this is a new system, processes are still evolving.

Who needs to complete the Vietnam pre-arrival declaration?

• Foreign passport holders entering Vietnam
• Overseas Vietnamese travelling on a visa

Exempt:
• Vietnamese passport holders
• Transit passengers (not passing through immigration)

Where does this apply?

• Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC / SGN Airport) – currently required (pilot)
• Hanoi (HAN) & Da Nang (DAD) – not currently required
• Domestic flights within Vietnam – not required

When should you complete it?

The form can only be completed within 72 hours prior to arrival.

What are travellers experiencing right now?

Based on recent arrivals and first-hand feedback:

• Some travellers are not being asked for it
• Some are asked to complete it on arrival
• Some experience technical issues (timeouts, no confirmation emails)

Our recommendation

We recommend completing the declaration before departure if possible.

If you’re unable to submit due to technical issues, don’t worry — travellers are still being processed through immigration, with instructions provided on arrival if needed, this may just delay the wait time on entry.

General Vietnam Entry Requirements

To enter Vietnam, most travellers will need:

• A passport valid for at least 6 months from date of entry
• A valid Vietnam visa or visa exemption (if applicable)
• A return or onward ticket (may be requested)
• Accommodation details for your stay
