Vietnam’s 80th National Day Parade: A Celebration of Heritage and Unity

Vietnam is gearing up for a truly historic moment as the country celebrates the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2nd, 2025. The capital city of Hanoi is already buzzing with excitement, and this year’s celebrations promise to be the most spectacular in decades.

A Return to Ba Đình Square

For the first time since 1985, the grand parade will once again take place at Ba Đình Square, the symbolic heart of modern Vietnam. More than 15,000 members of the military and police will march in precise formations, accompanied by military vehicles and impressive flyovers. Among the many groups, seven all-female military formations and two female police contingents will highlight the growing role of women in Vietnam’s armed forces.

Unity on Display

This parade is not just about showcasing military strength. It’s also a celebration of unity—within Vietnam and beyond. Alongside Vietnamese participants, honor guards from Russia, Laos, and Cambodia will march, reflecting both international friendship and regional solidarity.

Patriotism Across the City

In the lead-up to the big day, Hanoi has been transformed. From colonial-era balconies to modern high-rises, the streets are awash with red flags bearing the golden star of Vietnam. Rehearsals have already given locals a taste of the spectacle to come, with thousands gathering at dawn to watch columns of soldiers, military vehicles, and fighter jets soar above the square. The dramatic sight of Su-30 jets streaking the sky and homegrown military vehicles rolling past has built anticipation to fever pitch.

A Day to Remember

On the morning of September 2nd, the official parade will begin at 6:30 am with a solemn flag-raising and a 21-gun salute, followed by a breathtaking display of marching formations, cultural pride, and national identity. For visitors lucky enough to be in Hanoi, it will be an unforgettable experience—part military pageantry, part celebration of the spirit and resilience that have shaped Vietnam over the past 80 years.

At Wide Eyed Tours, we love moments like these that give travelers a window into Vietnam’s soul. National Day is more than just a public holiday—it’s a time when history, culture, and community come together in the streets. Whether you’re watching the parade in person or soaking up the festive atmosphere across the country, it’s the perfect reminder of why Vietnam continues to captivate the world.
